Vels University and International Film Culture Centre sign MOU to give free film education programs to economically backward students


Chennai, May 3, 2024 – In a landmark move aimed at empowering economically backward students aspiring for a career in the film industry, the Vels University Pallavaram, Chennai, and the International Film Culture Centre have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to offer free film education programs.

Under the agreement signed today in the presence of Dr. Isari K. Ganesh, Founder Chancellor of the Vels University and esteemed Film Producer, Mr. Vetimaaran, Director and Founder of International Film Culture Centre, a range of film studies programs will be made available to eligible students at no cost.
The initiative includes the provision of three distinctive courses: B.Sc in Film Studies (3 Years), M.Sc in Film and Culture Studies (2 Years), and PG Diploma in Media Skills (1 Year). These courses are designed to provide students with comprehensive theoretical knowledge and practical training necessary for a successful career in the dynamic film industry.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Vetimaaran, Founding Director of the International Film Culture Centre, expressed his commitment to fostering the dreams of economically disadvantaged students across Tamil Nadu. He emphasized the importance of providing access to quality education and mentoring to enable students to excel in the film industry.

The Vels University , known for its commitment to education excellence, brings its extensive experience and expertise to this collaboration. With a portfolio of over 100 undergraduate and postgraduate courses, the University has a longstanding reputation for delivering high-quality education.
