Investment Opportunities In Republic of Somaliland | Appointment of Special Advisors & MOUs Signing


  • Dr. Annamalai Pandian has been appointed Special Adviser on Healthcare and Mr.Abdul Ghani has been appointed Special Adviser on Economics and Trade to the Republic of Somaliland from Tamil Nadu

Chennai: Dr.Annamalai Pandian, who is presiding over the Deepam Hospital, will act as the Special Representative of the Republic of Somalia in the presence of the Vice President of the Republic of Somali Abdirahman Abdillahi Ismail at the event held at the Star Hotel in Mylapore, Chennai. The Republic of Somaliland signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Deepam Hospital to help residents of Somaliland access Medical facilities in Tamilnadu.

Mr.Abdul Ghani will also serve as the Special Adviser on Economy and Trade of the Republic of Somali to further enhance the Rs. 4,870 crore annual trade relationship between India and the Republic of Somali in textile, agriculture and other products. It has also been reported that the Somali Republicans will be involved in efforts to set up a trade center in Tamil Nadu.

Dr. Annamalai Pandian has initiated investment in Primary, Secondary and Nutritional health care for the Republic of Somaliland with the assistance of International Agencies. Overall investment is estimated to be around USD 100 Mn.Every year, around 50,000 people from Somaliland are travelling to various countries including India, for medical tourism. In the future, medical tourism will be organized through the Trade Office and will predominantly be delivered in Tamil Nadu in line with the Chief Minister’s vision to make Tamil Nadu as a destination for Medical Tourism.

Mr. Abdul Ghani, with his wide contacts in the United Nation and several other countries, will attract investments from various countries including India for the development of trade, commerce and economy of the Republic of Somaliland.  Mr. Abdul Ghani will head the Official trade office of the Republic of Somaliland in India, which aims to coordinate with potential investors across the world.
