Chennai: The Govt of Tamil Nadu through Department of Higher education has passed Govt Orders Vide G.O. No: 53 and 54 dated 25-2-2021 has reconstituted Tamil Nadu State Urdu Academy. This has been a very long pending demand of Urdu Speaking people of Tamil Nadu and Urdu Language Lovers of the State.

This academy is being headed by the Hon'ble Minister of Higher Education as Chairman and Dr. Md. Nayeemur Rahman Former Southern Regional Coordinator, MANAS & NMDFC, Ministry of Minority Affairs, Govt. of India and Director of Dr. MGR Deemed University as its Vice Chairman of the Tamil State Urdu Academy.

The Academy is having a Governing Council 15 as its members drawn from Educationalist / Academicians, Urdu Scholars, Poets as its members and including Ex Officio members as i ) Secretary to Government, Finance Department ii) Secretary to Government Higher Education Department, iii) Secretary to Government Backward Classes, Most Backward Classes & Minorities welfare Department. Ex Officio Secretary / Registrar, Tamil Nadu State Urdu Academy. The tenure of Tamil Nadu State Urdu Academy is for a period of 3 years from the date of nomination. 6 Members out of this 15 members Constitute to form a Standing Council of the Urdu Academy.

The reconstitution of Tamil Nadu State Urdu Academy has highlighted the Urdu Speaking Muslims and gain confidence among Urdu Language lovers and the Urdu Speaking Minorities.

We the Urdu Speaking Muslims of Tamil Nadu are indebted to Honble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Thiru Edapadi Palanisamy avargal and Minister of Higher Education Thiru K.P. Anbalaghan for considering our long pending request of reconstitution of the Tamil Nadu Urdu Academy.

We whole heartedly express our kind gratitude of thanks and pray Almighty God for the kind favour rendered towards Muslim Minority Community at large by Hon'ble Thiru Edapadi Palanisamy Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and the Hon'ble Thiru K.P. Anbalaghan Minister of Higher Education.
