Yamaha Motors enters into 125 cc scooter segment: Launches the new Ray ZR 125 FI and Street Rally 125 FI
- 30% increase in power output and 16% improvement of fuel economy beside new technologies compared to Yamaha’s earlier scooters ~

Chennai, December 19, 2019: Continuing with the excitement of The Call of the Blue that
carved the “The Yamaha Uniqueness” through product line ups and experiences, India
Yamaha Motor (IYM) Pvt. Ltd. have announced its entry into the 125-cc scooter
segment in India with the launch of Ray ZR 125 FI and Street Rally 125 FI. The
company will now work aggressively to fortify its market in the 125-cc scooter
segment along with the motorcycle line up. The new scooters come with several
exciting new features, new engine technologies and are available in exciting
new colours.
The new Ray ZR 125 FI and
Street Rally 125 FI are powered by a BS VI compliant, air cooled, fuel injected
(FI), 125 cc blue core engine that produces a power
output of 8.2 PS @ 6,500 RPM and a torque of 9.7 N.m @ 5,000 RPM. The power output is +30% and economy are +16%
higher* compared to the earlier scooters and the body weight is 99 kgs, which
is minimum 4 kgs. lighter than Yamaha’s earlier scooters. The new Ray ZR 125 FI
and Street Rally 125 FI will flaunt “Stop & start system”
that prevents engine idling and subsequent start with a single throttle twist
which uses the sensors to assess the riding environment, front disc brake with
“Unified brake system (UBS)”, the “Smart motor generator (SMG)” fitted to all new 125 cc scooters that uses electronic
controls to bring a quieter engine start without the need for a separate
conventional electric starter, and the “Side stand engine cut-off switch”. The
target customers for the new Ray ZR 125 FI and Street Rally 125 FI are lying
between 18-24 years of age who are high on adventure, and who finds the true
reflection of their riding personality by the mobility they ride and the
performance it offers.

The new MT-15 comes with VVA engine for
agile acceleration with model-specific ECU, optimized secondary reduction gear
ratio for snappy riding in town, A&S clutch for stress-free gear shifts, motard-like riding position with a great deal of freedom on
a tight, concentrated silhouette, 282 mm front disc brake with single-channel
ABS for excellent stopping power. The advanced design expressing ‘Torque and Agility’ is further accentuated
by dynamic front face styling headlight, short tail with a vertical taillight
and overall ‘graphics and finish’ that illustrates the unpredictable MT. MT-15 is known for its balance of torque and agility along
with enhanced control postures and single channel ABS. The launch also
witnesses the special colour “ICE FLUO -VERMILLION” launched in India that
has amassed rave reviews for its appearance of distinctive aggression in many
countries. The new BS VI MT-15 now gets a rear radial tyre
which is standardized in MT 15. Its advanced design expressing ‘Torque and
Agility’ is popularized further by minimal-look, dynamic headlight, short tail
and overall finish that illustrates the unpredictable MT style.
During
the launch today in Chennai, Mr. Motofumi Shitara, Chairman,
