Tamil Nadu Badminton Super League 2019 kickstarts in city
- Tamilnadu Badminton Association’s Tamilnadu Badminton Super League will get underway at the Fireball Badminton Academy, Mugappair.

June 4, 2019: On the eve of the tournament, the tournament
was inaugurated along with the introduction of teams. Speaking at the event, TNBA, General
Secretary, VB Arunachalam said, “We wanted to build a platform to the players
from the state to shine in the international level and a tournament like TNBSL
will provide them the stage to showcase the talent. “Chennai District
Badminton Association secretary, Aravindan, speaking at the event said,
“TNBSL is just a beginning to make our state a badminton powerhouse. Three
years back, getting to the podium in the national level competition was
impossible but now we have started doing that repeatedly.

In two or
three years time, Tamilnadu will have superstar players and TNBSL provides an
opportunity to develop the sport in the state.” The tournament’s mascot Actor
Bharath too participated in the event.
Totally eight teams participate in the league
which features as many as 88 players from the state. The teams will be divided
into two groups of four teams playing with each other once. The top two from
each group will qualify for the semi-finals.
The tournament is divided into five categories,
which are Men Singles, Mixed doubles, Men’s doubles, Junior Mixed Doubles and
Juniors boys singles.
The teams are Marina Super Kings, Kovai Knockers, Karur Smashers, Thiruvallur Falcon Feathers, Tiruppur Warriors, Chennai Flying Gravity, Trichy Blasters and Kanchi Spark Aces.
