Actress Ramya Subramanian flagged off the event alongside Dr. Roopesh Kumar, Director of Neurosurgery; Dr. Vasudevan, Clinical Lead & Senior Consultant; Dr. Srivarthan, Consultant Neurologist; and Dr. Aarthi Deepesh, Clinical Lead of Interventional Radiology, MGM Healthcare.

With one in four people at risk of stroke during their lifetime and over 12 million cases reported globally each year, the initiative highlighted the importance of prevention and timely treatment. This year’s campaign, ‘Every Minute Counts’, calls on everyone to #ActFast. Common warning signs include facial drooping, arm weakness and speech difficulties. As brain cells begin dying within minutes, rapid medical intervention is crucial, with treatment ideally initiated within the 4.5-hour golden window.

Dr. Roopesh Kumar emphasised recognising symptoms early, managing blood pressure, diabetes and cholesterol, and adopting healthier lifestyles. Mr. Pathmanaban, Chief Executive Officer, urged people to prioritise preventive healthcare and seek immediate medical attention when stroke symptoms appear.

Through this walkathon, MGM Healthcare reinforced its commitment to stroke awareness, early recognition and better recovery outcomes.
