Windergy India 2026 Inaugurated by Union Minister Pralhad Joshi in Chennai, Spotlighting India’s Wind Energy Growth
Chennai, October 8, 2026: Union Minister for New & Renewable Energy, Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution Shri Pralhad Joshi inaugurated Windergy India 2026 in Chennai, bringing together global industry leaders to accelerate India’s wind energy growth.
With 59.2 GW of installed wind capacity and another 43 GW under construction, India is targeting annual installations of 8 GW in FY2026–27, rising to 13.2 GW by FY2030–31, potentially taking cumulative capacity to around 107 GW. The ₹1.86 lakh crore Green Energy Corridor Phase-III will further strengthen transmission infrastructure and renewable energy integration, supporting the country’s ambition of 900 GW installed non-fossil fuel capacity by 2035.
The event features over 400 global exhibitors from more than 20 countries, showcasing advanced wind turbine technologies, components and end-to-end supply chain solutions. With nearly 80% domestic value addition, India’s manufacturing ecosystem is strengthening its self-reliance and global competitiveness.
Dedicated country pavilions from Germany, Denmark and Spain highlight international innovations and opportunities for collaboration. Shri Pralhad Joshi noted that India achieved a record 6.05 GW of annual wind installations in FY2025–26 and expressed confidence that FY2026–27 would surpass this milestone, strengthening the country’s ambition of 100 GW of installed wind capacity by 2030.
Girish Tanti, Chairman, Indian Wind Turbine Manufacturers Association (IWTMA), highlighted the sector’s expanding manufacturing capabilities, with annual production capacity exceeding 24 GW and exports reaching ₹12,800 crore in FY2025–26, nearly 50% higher year-on-year. He emphasised the ambition of increasing India’s share of global wind turbine exports from around 2% to 10% by 2030.
Aditya Pyasi, CEO, IWTMA, stressed the need to strengthen domestic manufacturing, indigenise critical components and build resilient supply chains as the industry transitions towards higher-capacity turbines.
Windergy India 2026 serves as a key platform connecting manufacturers, technology providers and policymakers to advance innovation, investment and India’s emergence as a global wind energy hub.
