Star Health Marks 20 Years of Trust and Care; Settles 2.5 Lakh+ Claims Worth ₹1,606 Crore in Tamil Nadu

Chennai, June 24, 2026: Star Health and Allied Insurance Company Limited has reinforced its leadership in Tamil Nadu’s health insurance sector, settling more than 2.5 lakh claims worth over ₹1,606 crore across the state in FY26. The milestone highlights the company’s continued focus on making health insurance more accessible, responsive, and customer-centric.

With 41% retail health insurance market share in Tamil Nadu and 31.3% nationally, Star Health continues to be a trusted health insurance partner for millions of families. The company recorded a Gross Written Premium (GWP) of ₹2,951 crore in Tamil Nadu during FY26 and currently covers over 3.8 million lives in the state.

Anand Roy, MD & CEO, Star Health and Allied Insurance said that
the company is also leveraging technology to improve customer experience, with AI currently processing 20% of routine cashless claims and a target to scale this to 50% within the next two years.

Supported by a robust network of 119 branches, 1.28 lakh+ advisors, and over 1,900 hospitals, Star Health has strengthened healthcare access across urban and rural Tamil Nadu. At the national level, Star Health settled 30.6 lakh claims worth over ₹11,900 crore in FY26 and processes more than 8,300 claims every day, with 92% of cashless claims completed within three hours. 

The company is also driving preventive healthcare adoption. During FY26, preventive health check-ups increased by 42%, while telemedicine consultations surged by 88%, reflecting a growing focus on proactive health management and digital healthcare solutions.

Beyond insurance, Star Health continues to expand its social impact through the Arogya Seva Kendra initiative, providing free primary healthcare services to underserved communities. In Tamil Nadu, these centres are actively serving communities in Chennai, Nagercoil, Thoothukudi, Tiruppur, and Karur.
