The company currently operates 23 offices across Tamil Nadu, including four offices in Chennai, and is set to further enhance its footprint with the establishment of a fifth Centre of Excellence for Health Claims Management in the city. The move reflects Chennai’s growing prominence as a key healthcare and insurance services hub in the country.
MDIndia’s presence in Tamil Nadu began with its first branch office on Mount Road (Anna Salai), followed by offices at Guna Complex and Raheja Towers. As demand for healthcare administration services increased, its operations in Kilpauk expanded into three dedicated offices. The latest extension at NRCS Tower in Nungambakkam marks another significant step in the company’s regional growth strategy.
The expansion has also translated into substantial employment growth. From an initial workforce of around 100 employees, MDIndia’s Chennai operations now employ more than 450 professionals. The company is further strengthening its capabilities by adding over 120 claims-processing doctors, a move expected to accelerate claim settlements, enhance provider management, and improve customer service standards.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Sameer Bhonsale, Managing Director of MDIndia Health Insurance TPA Pvt. Ltd., said the company’s mission extends beyond processing claims to supporting individuals and families during some of the most challenging moments of their lives.
“At MDIndia, we understand that our role begins at one of the most crucial stages of a human life — when a person or family is inside a hospital, looking for clarity, support and reassurance. Our Chennai expansion is not only about a new office or larger operations; it is about bringing dependable health claims management closer to people, hospitals and insurers when they need it most,” he said.
A key aspect of the expansion is the company’s emphasis on local talent development. MDIndia noted that many professionals from Tamil Nadu have traditionally relocated to metropolitan centres such as Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Pune in search of career opportunities. By expanding its operations in Chennai, the company aims to create high-quality employment opportunities within the state, enabling professionals to pursue rewarding careers while remaining close to their families and communities.
The upcoming Centre of Excellence is expected to enhance operational efficiency and service delivery for clients while supporting MDIndia’s long-term vision of improving healthcare accessibility through technology-driven solutions. The company is also investing in the development of an artificial intelligence and machine learning-powered intelligent claims adjudication system, designed to create a next-generation framework for automated and efficient health claims management.
With its latest expansion, MDIndia is positioning Chennai as a strategic hub for healthcare administration innovation, reinforcing its commitment to delivering faster, smarter, and more accessible health insurance services across South India.
