VS Hospitals Unveils Innovative Robotic-Assisted Knee Replacement System, Enhancing Surgical Outcomes

Chennai, November 19, 2025: VS Hospitals has introduced the VELYS Robotic-Assisted Solution at its Kilpauk facility, marking a major step forward in precision-driven knee replacement surgery. The next-generation system supports surgeons with real-time insights, personalised planning, and highly accurate implant placement. To mark the launch, the hospital is offering free orthopaedic consultations until the end of the month.


The facility was inaugurated by former Indian cricketer Mr. Dinesh Karthik, in the presence of senior leaders including Prof. Dr. S. Sundar, Medical Director and Robotic Arthroplasty Surgeon, Prof. Dr. S. Subramanian, Senior Medical Oncologist and Chairman & Managing Director, Mr. Muthu Subramanian, Executive Director, Mr. Prassanna Srinivasan, Group COO, and Mr. S. Ramu Mahalingam, Director–Finance.

Speaking at the launch, Prof. Dr. Sundar highlighted that the VELYS system is a transformative advancement in joint replacement surgery. It offers real-time surgical data, eliminates the need for pre-operative CT scans, reduces patient radiation exposure, and improves accuracy in bone resection and implant positioning through advanced optical tracking and precision-guided tools. These capabilities support better mobility, reduced post-operative pain, and quicker recovery.

He noted that given the complexity of the knee joint, precision is essential for restoring mobility and quality of life. Robotic-assisted systems, he said, enable more accurate, safer procedures and help patients return to daily activities sooner.

VS Hospitals’ Institute of Orthopaedics and Robotic Arthroplasty provides comprehensive joint care, including Total Knee and Hip Replacements, Revision Surgeries, Pelvic Acetabular Surgery, and tumour limb-saving procedures. The centre also specialises in smart technique knee replacement, unicompartmental knee replacement, and reverse shoulder arthroplasty.

The department features modern facilities such as intra-operative image guidance, 24/7 CT scan services, physiotherapy and laser therapy, computer-assisted rehabilitation, and dedicated paediatric orthopaedic care for conditions like clubfoot, limb length differences, gait issues, fractures, infections, and hip disorders.
