World Sight Day 2025: Blind Walk & Safe Diwali Awareness Rally; Organized by Vasan Eye Care Hospital & SDNB Vaishnava College for Women

Chennai, October 17, 2025: Vasan Eye Care Hospital, Chrompet, in collaboration with Shrimathi Devkunwar Nanalal Bhat Vaishnava College for Women, jointly observed World Sight Day 2025 with a powerful message on preventing vision loss and promoting safe Diwali celebrations.

Over 150 college students participated in a unique Blind Walk, symbolically tying black ribbons over their eyes to raise awareness about visual impairment and the importance of eye donation. The event also included a vibrant rally advocating for eye care, eye safety during Diwali, and support for the visually impaired.

The rally was flagged off by Chief Guest Mr. Samay Singh Meena, IPS, Deputy Commissioner of Tambaram City Traffic Police.
The event was presided over by Dr. Gandhimathi, Principal of SDNB Vaishnava College for Women.

Distinguished guests in attendance included: Dr. Kaushik P B, Dr. Sandeep Patil, Dr. Kanchana, Dr. Indu Govindaraj, and Dr. Marvin James from Vasan Eye Care Hospital; Dr. Lakshmipathi, Chairman, Indian Red Cross Society, Puducherry; Dr. Irudayasamy, Institute for Research and Development for the Rural Poor.

Students, staff, volunteers, and Vasan Eye Care professionals carried impactful banners highlighting the importance of eye care and eye donation. The rally concluded with a pledge for eye donation taken by all participants, marking a collective commitment to restoring sight and raising awareness.
