"Health For All" - Health Camp and Flash mob conducted on the occasion of World Health Day


  • "Health Camp and Flashmob conducted by IMA Junior Doctors and Medical Student’s Network in Besant Nagar signifying the theme of World Health Day – “ Health for All”"

Tamil Nadu, Chennai, Apr 7, 2023 – Indian Medical Association – Junior Doctors Network, Medical Students Network Tamilnadu State Chapter in association with Greater Chennai Corporation and Chennai City police organised Non Communicable Disease Screening Camp and Flashmob on the occasion of World Health Day for creating awareness among public on Non Communicanle disease. WHO Celebrates World Health Day every year with theme of equitable healthcare and “Health For All”.

This year is very important as we celebrate 75th anniversary of world health day. WHO’s 75th anniversary year is an opportunity to look back at public health successes that have improved quality of life during the last seven decades. It is also an opportunity to motivate action to tackle the health challenges of today  ̶  and tomorrow. 

Celebration begun with Marathon organised in Tambaram at 5 PM which was flagged off by the state president of Indian Medical Association Tamilnadu State Branch Dr Senthamil Pari along with President Elect & National Chairman of Junior Doctors Network Dr Abul Hasan. 100s of Young Junior Doctors and Medical Students gathered and emphasised the importance of physical activity. 


Around Evening 5 PM, 100s of Junior Doctors participated in the Non Comminicable Screeing Camp for general public in elliots beach, Besant Nagar which was conducted in association with Chennai Corporation and Chennai City Police. The Camp was inaugrated by Dr Senthamil Pari and Dr Abul Hasan where BP, Blood Sugar and Obesity screening was done for general public and Referal and basic medicines was given. Speaking to general public Dr Pari explained the risk factors of the Non Communicable diseases and the pivotal role played by IMA in the prevention and education about the NCDs. 



Dr. Abul Hasan, President Elect of IMA TNSB and Chairman of IMA JDN HQ expressed his concerns on the increased morbidity due to diabetes and Obesity. Early screening, detection, prevention, control and management of Non-Communicable diseases like hypertension ,diabetes &leading a healthy lifestyle by avoiding foods that are high in salt, sugar & fats will help reduce NCD fatality rates in India. 

Flashmob conducted by the medical students was much appreciated by the general public. The event was ended by the Candle Light March by Doctors and Students creating awareness on the theme – “Health for all”. The event was organised by Dr V S Hariharan, Chairman, IMA JDN TN, Dr Jamuna Rani, Co Chairman, IMA MSN TN, Dr Arun Kumar, Convenor, IMA JDN TM, Dr Raghunandan, Finance Secretary IMA JDN TN, Dr CT Krishnan, General Secretary, IMA MSN TN, Dr Charren, Dr Keshav, Dr Srudhi, Dr Shivalinga and other office bearers of IMA JDN MSN TNSB.
