ALERT, a NGO inks pact with LIONS club International District 324-A1 to jointly enable “Right to Life”, by empowering people to save lives

Chennai, August 2020: In an ongoing outreach to empower the community to save lives during emergencies, ALERT, a NGO that works towards a better emergency care eco system in India, signed MoU with the LIONS club international District 324-A1 to collaborate in the effort. The programs will be delivered to the members of the prestigious clubs in the District, their families, Leos and to the adopted colleges, villages and others from the larger community. With the need of the hour to also embrace the new normal due to the COVID pandemic, the MoU will also enable the outreach of a program titled “Be ALERT”, specifically designed for individuals and organisations to embrace safety as a culture in day to day life.

ALERT Founder Trustees, Ms. Kala Balasundaram and Mr. Rajesh Trivedi were delighted, as this partnership will help in reaching thousands of compassionate Lion members. 

Speaking about the significance of the collaboration Mr. V.M.Muralidharan, Chairman-ALERT said “The goal given to us by Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam to train one in every family is profound and mammoth and it is such collaborations like that with the LIONS Club that gives wings to the initiative, taking us closer to the goal through the programme rightly titled “Right to Life”. 

The need in the current times to orient oneself in emergency care and also embrace the new normal is utmost important and speaking on the occasion, the District Governor Ln. P V Prakash Kumar said, “In line with mission of Lions Club to empower volunteers to serve their communities, we see this collaboration as a significant one to empower common people to save lives” 

ALERT, since its inception in 2006 has reached out to over 1.4 Lakh people from all walks of life across India through its training programmes in emergency response management.
