Monsoon in Chennai has been the season of infectious diseases and are spreading rapidly as most places in the city have been breading places for mosquitoes. Flu, on the other hand, has been highly contagious and affects all age groups, especially young children, old age and patients with co-morbid conditions such as diabetes, asthma and kidney-related diseases. Fever is no longer a common disease, it is an indication that there is an infection in the body that needs to be investigated. Certain fevers like dengue and malaria can even cause lung injury and turn out to be fatal.

Speaking about the Fever Clinic Dr Subramanian Swaminathan, Senior Consultant – Infectious Diseases, Gleneagles Global Health City Said, “We have been observing a trend that many patients coming in with fever are not diagnosed on time, which leads to several complications and particularly during monsoon period fever cases are raising steadily year on year. This fever clinic which is getting launched will promote health awareness and prevent disease propagation by healthy practices and share information regarding the latest updates on various diseases with our community doctors and staff to understand the needs of the patients and their warning signs”, added Dr Ashwin Karuppan, Consultant – Internal Medicine & Diabetology, Gleneagles Global Health City
