SPR City Unveils 47.8-Foot Golu, Attempts World Record in Chennai!

Chennai, October 10, 2026: SPR City, Perambur, is taking Navaratri celebrations to extraordinary heights with a spectacular 47.8-foot-tall Golu featuring over 4,500 dolls. Unveiled as the centrepiece of SPR City Navaratri Utsavam 2026, the installation will welcome visitors from October 11 to 20, celebrating Tamil Nadu’s rich cultural heritage, devotion and togetherness.

The Golu marks a world record attempt for height in association with the World Book of Records, London, UK, subject to official verification. A 36.4-foot Golu created in Chennai in 2012 was previously documented by the India Book of Records.

Inspired by SPR City’s 47-floor Tower H, recognised as Chennai’s tallest residential tower, the magnificent display brings architecture and tradition together. Its 4,500-plus dolls showcase Indian culture, humanity and timeless stories. The ten-day Utsavam features daily poojas, cultural programmes, music and family-friendly activities.

The inauguration was attended by Mr. Hitesh Kawad, Managing Director, SPR Group; Mr. Navin Ranka, Director, SPR India; Mr. Prakash Mohanasundaram, Vice President – Revenue; and Mr. Balakumar Chandrasekaran, Senior Vice President – Sales & Marketing.

Mr. Hitesh Kawad highlighted how the Golu celebrates motherhood, prosperity, devotion and cultural diversity. Mr. Navin Ranka described Chennai’s true wealth as human values, interpreting HNI as “Harmony, Nobility and Inner Peace.”
