Vishnu Prabhu Appointed As Trade Ambassador of India-ASEAN Trade Council
National, June 01, 2026: In a significant development aimed at strengthening economic and commercial ties between India and Southeast Asia, Mr. C.M. Vishnu Prabhu has been officially appointed as the Trade Ambassador of the India-ASEAN Trade Council at a prestigious ceremony held in New Delhi.

The appointment is expected to play a vital role in enhancing trade, investment, and economic cooperation between India and the ASEAN member nations, including Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, and Timor-Leste.

The ceremony witnessed the participation of ambassadors, high commissioners, diplomatic officials, entrepreneurs, business leaders, policymakers, and representatives from international organizations. The gathering highlighted the growing importance of regional economic partnerships and international trade relations in fostering sustainable development and prosperity.
"While speaking on the occasion, Vishnu Prabhu said that his foremost responsibility is to strengthen trade between India and these countries. He expressed his desire to import grains and pulses from Myanmar and make them available to the people of Tamil Nadu, as well as to Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies and cooperative institutions, so that these essential commodities can be distributed to the public here.
He further stated that he intends to make use of this valuable opportunity to serve as a bridge for entrepreneurship and business cooperation between India and the 11 countries in Asia, fostering stronger economic ties and trade relations.
Senior dignitaries at the event praised Mr. Vishnu Prabhu’s extensive experience in international business relations, trade promotion, and economic cooperation.
