80th Senior State Aquatic Championship 2026 Begins at SRMIST, Kattankulathur

Chennai, June 1, 2026: The 80th Senior State Aquatic Championship 2026 was officially inaugurated on Monday at the Dr. T.R. Paarivendhar Aquatic Complex at SRM Institute of Science and Technology, bringing together some of Tamil Nadu’s finest swimmers for a prestigious competition that will also serve as the selection trials for the 12th Asian Age Group Championship 2026.

The championship is being organized by the Tamil Nadu State Aquatic Association in association with SRM Institute of Science and Technology and the Chengalpattu District Aquatic Association.

Swimmers from across the state have assembled at the world-class aquatic facility to compete in various events, displaying their skill, determination and sporting spirit. The championship holds added significance as outstanding performers will earn the opportunity to represent India at the upcoming 12th Asian Age Group Championship 2026.

Officials highlighted that the event provides an important platform for emerging and established swimmers to test their abilities at the highest state level while striving for international selection.

The championship is expected to witness intense competition over the coming days as athletes aim to secure top honours and a place in the national squad.
