Chennai, March 14, 2026: SRM Valliammai Engineering College celebrated College Day 2026 on 14 March 2026 at the prestigious Dr. T. P. Ganesan Auditorium, bringing together students, faculty members, and distinguished guests in a vibrant celebration of academic excellence and institutional achievements.

The event was graced by Dr. Ravi Pachamuthu, Chairman, SRM Group; Mrs. R. Padmapriya, Vice Chairman, SRM VEC; and Ms. Harini Ravi, Correspondent, SRMVEC. Also present were Dr. R. Venkatesh Babu, Director – Academics & Administration, and Dr. B. Chidhambararajan, Director.

Dr. M. Murugan, Principal, SRMVEC, presented the Annual Report highlighting the institution’s accomplishments in academics, research, placements, and co-curricular and extracurricular activities. Dr. S. Visalakshi, Vice Principal, SRMVEC, delivered the welcome address and greeted the distinguished guests.

The programme featured an inspiring address by Chief Guest Dr. B. Sampath, Business Unit Head – EPC Turnkey Solutions, and Guest of Honour Mr. R. Vijayan, Senior Director – HR, PRODAPT. Dr. Sampath encouraged students to follow role models and develop skills aligned with modern industry requirements, while also motivating them to remain focused on their career goals. Mr. Vijayan reassured students that the rise of Artificial Intelligence would not threaten the future of engineers, provided they continue to strengthen their unique knowledge and technical skills.

During the ceremony, meritorious students were honoured with awards and certificates for academic excellence and achievements in various departmental activities. Faculty members were also recognised for their significant contributions to research and academics.

The celebration concluded with a lively cultural programme featuring traditional dance performances, a musical presentation by the VEC Band, skating, Silambam, and energetic student dance performances, adding colour and excitement to the occasion.

The event concluded with the vote of thanks delivered by Dr. D. Elango, Convener of the programme and Head, Department of Civil Engineering.
