CHENNAI, November 9, 2025 — The Consulate General of Malaysia and Tourism Malaysia Chennai jointly inaugurated “VMY2026: Experience the Magic of Malaysia,” a vibrant two-day festival at Express Avenue Mall, marking the countdown to Visit Malaysia Year 2026 (VMY2026) and reinforcing the tourism and cultural bonds between Malaysia and India

The mall transformed into a lively “mini Malaysia,” offering visitors an immersive taste of the country’s rich heritage. Guests enjoyed traditional dance and music performances, engaging Teh Tarik and Roti Canai demonstrations, intricate batik art displays, and an array of authentic Malaysian delicacies. The festivities also featured a captivating concert by popular Malaysian singer Zubir Khan, along with attractive travel packages and exclusive promotions from AirAsia — the Official Airline Partner — as well as IndiGo, Pick Your Trail, Akshaya India, and Madura Travels.

Speaking at the event, Mr. K. Saravana Kumar, Consul General of Malaysia in Chennai, highlighted that the celebration symbolizes the enduring friendship and cultural ties between Malaysia and India. Mr. Hishamuddin Mustafa, Director of Tourism Malaysia Chennai, emphasized that strategic partnerships with leading airlines including AirAsia, Malaysia Airlines, Batik Air, and IndiGo will play a key role in welcoming a record number of Indian visitors to Malaysia in 2026.

Tourism Malaysia Chennai extended heartfelt appreciation to all partners, collaborators, and participating agencies for their contributions in making the festival a grand success — setting an energetic tone for the upcoming Visit Malaysia Year 2026.
