“Pancreatic cancer is the 7th leading cause of cancer deaths globally, and over 80% of cases are diagnosed late due to vague symptoms,” said Dr. C. Palanivelu, Founder & Chairman, GEM Hospitals. “Through this initiative, we aim to change that by ensuring timely access to specialists and better awareness.” “When detected early, survival rates can be more than four times higher,” he added.

Dr. P. Senthilnathan, Director, GEM Hospital Chennai, highlighted the new QR service: “People often hesitate to visit a hospital for mild symptoms. With a simple scan, they can now reach a real doctor for real guidance—without appointments or delays.”

The event also honoured pancreatic cancer survivors under the segment ‘Stories of Strength’, celebrating their courage and inspiring others battling the disease. “These stories remind us that a pancreatic cancer diagnosis is not the end—it’s a fight many are winning today,” said Dr. S. Asokan, CEO, GEM Hospital Chennai.

Furthering its commitment, Dr. S. Srivatsan Gurumurthy, Senior Consultant, introduced PAN GAIN (Pancreas Care GEM Advanced Intervention Network)—a comprehensive programme offering end-to-end care for all pancreatic disorders.

Throughout November, GEM Hospital will be illuminated in purple, symbolizing solidarity with patients, survivors, and their families, and reinforcing its message of hope, awareness, and early intervention.
