BHIM Payments App Achieves 3X Monthly Transaction Growth, Redefining Digital Inclusion

Chennai, October 14, 2025: The BHIM Payments App, developed by NPCI BHIM Services Limited (NBSL), has witnessed strong growth in 2025, with monthly transactions rising from 38.97 million in January to 119.85 million in September—over a threefold increase. This reflects an average month-on-month growth of 12%. In September alone, the app processed transactions worth ₹16,803 crore, marking a 312% increase in volume and a 94% rise in transaction value compared to the same period last year.

The new version of the BHIM Payments App, launched in March 2025, supports over 15 Indian languages including Tamil, features a clean, ad-free interface, and is optimised for low-connectivity areas—making digital payments more accessible across urban, rural, and semi-urban regions.

  • Split Expenses: Easily divide bills and settle payments with friends and family.
  • Family Mode: Add family members, track shared expenses, and manage group payments.
  • Spends Analytics: Visual dashboards auto-categorise expenses to aid budgeting.
  • Action Needed: Smart reminders for pending bills, low balances, and UPI Lite prompts.
  • UPI Circle: Allows controlled delegation of payment rights to trusted individuals, with oversight by the primary user.
With this sustained growth and new user-centric features, BHIM Payments App continues to strengthen its position as a trusted digital payment solution across the country.
