Grand Finale of ‘SIP Arithmetic Genius Contest 2023’ successfully held in Chennai
- 252 finalists from 600,000 participants shortlisted from 23 states
Chennai, 28th January 2024: The Grand National finale of the much-awaited event in the Calendar of Primary School Children across the country, SIP ALL INDIA ARITHMETIC GENIUS CONTEST 2023 held at Hotel Ramada Plaza by Wyndham in Chennai today. The Chief Guest of the day, Shri Ravi Teja Katta IAS, Regional Deputy Commissioner (North), Greater Chennai Corporation, graced the occasion and witnessed the little genius minds at work.

While addressing the gathering Shri Ravi Teja Katta, IAS said, “I am really surprised and happy to see these kids solve these mathematical sums with such speed at this very young age. They reminded my childhood days when my parents used to take me for various competitions. I would like to congratulate and appreciate SIP Academy for motivating the younger generation of India, creating interest in maths and making them future ready for further challenges in life”.

The 8th Edition of the Contest, conducted by the SIP Abacus for students of Classes 1 to 5, saw a participation of a humongous 600,000 children from more than 1200 Top Schools from 23 States across the country for the first round. The Round 2 saw 167,711 students for the city round followed by Round 3 with 28,825 participants for the state round. The 4-tier contest, with School Round, City Round, State Round and the National Final Round, helps in building a solid foundation in the basics of Arithmetic and also fostering the competitive spirit in children.
A total of 252 students from 23 States qualified for the National finals attempted to solve 300 maths sums in 10 minutes. The Winners of the Contest from each class were titled the “Arithmetic Genius” of 2023 apart from getting a Cash Award of Rs. 25,000/- each. 1st Runner-up and 2nd Runner-up winners were also given cash awards of Rs. 15,000 and Rs. 10,000 each respectively.
Mr. Dinesh Victor, Managing Director, SIP Academy India Pvt. Ltd. said, “We are happy to present an opportunity for young children to build a solid foundation in the basics of mathematics and win early recognition for their talents. I would also like to laud the children for their enthusiastic participation in overwhelming numbers and the high standard which they set for themselves has made this event a very important one to look forward to”.
He also highlighted the fact that SIP Abacus has trained more than 10 lakhs children in various disciplines in its 1000+ centres spread across 350 cities from 23 States in India and prepared them to face life more confidently.
