~~ 50th KVS NATIONAL SPORTS MEET 2019 Organised by KVS Chennai Region  from 24/06/19 to 28/06/19 ~~

June, 2019: Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan under the Ministry of Human Resource Development is organizing National Sports Meet in different venues. Chennai region is organizing the 50th KVS National Volleyball Boys under 14 /17 and Table Tennis Boys and Girls Under 14/17/19 Tournament 2019 from 24th to 28th July 2019 in SRM University, Kattankulathur.

Dr. Sandeep Sancheti, Vice Chancellor, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Chennai has kindly consented to be the Chief Guest and Shri. J Natarajan, Senior Manager, IOB Chennai, and former International Volleyball Player, who has assented to be the Guest of Honour, will inaugurate the 50th KVS National Meet on 24th July 2019 at 9:30 am respectively in the SRM Indoor Stadium, Kattankulathur campus. About 1100 players and escort teachers are a part of the above tournament.

In the Closing Ceremony Dr. K Vaithianathan, Director of Sports, SRM IST has kindly consented to be the Chief Guest and Smt. N Arulselvi, Manager Indian Bank and former international Table Tennis Player will be the Guest of Honour. This tournament aims at selecting the best players for SGFI KVS team. Cash awards will be presented to winners to encourage and motivate the young talented players.

~~ SRMIST Celebrated 5th International Yoga Day ~~

Chennai, June 2019: SRM Institute of Science & Technology Celebrated 5th International Yoga Day on 21st June 2018 at the Multipurpose Indoor Stadium. Totally 300 students participated in the yoga program and demonstrated different types of yoga.







Prof. Dr Sandeep Sancheti, Vice Chancellor SRM IST presided over the function and delivered the special address  by explained the benefit of Yoga.

  • Book Launch: ‘Digital Marketing: From Fundamentals to Future’
‘Digital Marketing: From Fundamentals to Future’ blends both the worlds of traditional and digital and takes the readers through convergence of technologies in connected world through digital strategizing, engagement, content marketing, marketing management and Marketing 4.0. The book aims to provide a foundation for using digital technologies and media based on the sound principles of marketing. Commenting on the book launch, Dr T N Swaminathan, Strategic Advisor to Dean & Adjunct Faculty,  Great Lakes Institute of Management, Chennai, said, “Keeping in mind with the current trends, and at the same time, holding a strong foundation of basics in Digital Marketing, the book covers all the important theoretical framework of traditional and digital marketing aspects in relevance to business and academics world. There are two exclusive chapters focusing on Marketing 4.0, Industry 4.0, IoT and other disruptive technologies including Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.” Dr T N Swaminathan further extended his heartfelt thanks to Cengage and MMA for making this a memorable release event.

He expressed how great the journey has been since the first meeting, and coming up with this book that outlines the move from fundamentals to practically oriented digital marketing model with detailed approach that will enable in executing digital transformation.

About the Authors:
T. N. Swaminathan, Ph.D., retired from Great Lakes Institute of Management Chennai as Professor of Marketing and Director, Branding, PR & Alumni Relations. He continues with Great Lakes as Strategic Advisor to the Dean and Adjunct Professor–Marketing.

Karthik Kumar is Director at Rage Communications, Chennai, India. He began his career in the trenches of marketing in 1976 with Indian Market Research Bureau. He embarked on an entrepreneurial journey in 2000. This led him to team up with friends who had started Rage Communication in 2003 to repurpose the business after the dot com bust.

  • Coca-Cola India Foundation to Implement Integrated Waste Management Solutions in  Chennai .
June, 2019: Coca-Cola India Foundation, Anandana, has announced establishment of integrated waste management infrastructurealong with SAAHAS, CHINTAN and HASIRUDALA, which also includes setting up of Material Recovery and Segregation Facilities (MRFs).The partnerships will also drive social initiatives such as inclusion of informal waste sector into a formal one, raising awareness of source segregation, influencing attitudinal changes in waste disposal, and protection of natural habitats among others. 

Inadequate source segregation is one of the major roadblocks that hinders recycling. Burning of unsorted solid waste can also aggravate air pollution. Anandana along with various NGO partners is supporting the creation of new infrastructure for material recovery including PET and composting of wet waste.  The facilities will be set up at multiple locations in Chennai,  Delhi/NCR ,Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka .

Ishteyaque Amjad, Vice-President- Public Affairs, Communications & Sustainability, Coca-Cola India and South West Asia,said, Waste generation rates are expected to increase more than two-fold by 2025 in urban India, largely driven by rise in incomes and growing urban populations. Together, with our partners, we want to encourage self-sustaining ventures within decentralized waste management. These partnerships are aligned with our vision of creating a ‘World Without Waste’ to collect and recycle the equivalent of 100% of our packaging by 2030.”

The efforts will also focus on creating frameworks for sustainable community-led approach and spreading awareness among the waste workers, scrap dealers and local administration.

June, 2019: 
SRM Public School conducted a Blood Donation Day in collaboration with Lion's Club on 8th June 2019 between 9:00am and 1:00pm in the school campus in view of World Blood Donors Day. The camp was a huge success with over 40 parents and members of faculty who volunteered to donate blood. It was indeed a lesson in service and sacrifice for both adults and children alike.


Followed by the celebration at SRMPS on June 8th 2019 as we came together as one big family, Management, teachers, parents and children to recount the academic success of our dear children for 2018-19.  Almost 80 children received certificates and medals for topping their classes in different subjects and for 100% attendance for the year.

Mr. M. Subramanian, Correspondent, SRM Public School was the Chief Guest and Dr. K.R. Maalathi, Advisor SRM Public School , was the Guest of Honor. They encouraged and appreciated the Young Achievers and gave away medals and certificates. It was a moment of pride for all in attendance to see young children setting goals and achieving them with aplomb

  • Velammal excels in NEET 2019.
June 2019: Miss Sukirthi T, class 12 of Velammal Vidyalaya, Mel Ayanambakkam has emerged triumphantly in the UG NEET for the year 2018-19 by securing 653/720 marks.  263 students out of 347 students have qualified from Velammal Nexus in NEET 2019. 

The management applauds  the strenuous hard work of the students and the academic team for achieving  this herculean feat.
