SAVEETHA HOSPITALS WITNESS ORGAN DONATION FROM A 42 YEARS OLD HARDWARE SHOP EMPLOYEE

GOAL – Gift of a Life Foundation, an initiative to spread awareness on organ donation;The family members of Organ donor were honoured during the occasion;

Chennai, 28th March, 2019:SaveethaHospitals today announced that they had received human organs from a 42 years old hardware shop employee from Sriperambudur town of Kancheepuram district. The occasion witnessed the awareness on GOAL – Gift ofa Life Foundation, an initiative to spread awareness on organ donation. The Family members of Organ donor were honoured during the event.

A 42 years old man from Sriperambudur working in a hardware shop met with a road accident, sustained severe head injuries. He was admitted to the hospital following arachnoid bleed and brain stem dysfunction. After being monitored and supported for 10 days, the patient was declared brain dead. After counseling, his family came forward and agreed for organ donation. The organs were transplanted to bring new lease of life to various suffering patients.

Dr.N.M.Veeraiyan, Chancellor, Saveetha Group of Institutions said, “After the patient was declared brain-dead, the family was counselled about the benefits of organ donation and saving precious human lives. And the family agreed to donate his organs. As a special tribute, we have decided to honour the organ donor and his family”


Dr.Saveetha Rajesh,Director, Saveetha Medical College and Hospitals also spokeabout their new initiative, GOAL – Gift of a  Life Foundation to demonstrate and promote the importance of organ donation. Initially it will educate and motivate people on organ donation with various awareness programs. The hospital staffs are also well trained in promoting the cause of organ donation.

The Hospital management invited the family members of the deceased organ donor and they were honoured during the event. The gathering also paid their respects to the organ donor who in death gave life to others through organ donation.
