Rainbow Children’s Hospital Launches ACENT, Chennai’s First Dedicated Centre for Pediatric Hearing, Airway and Sleep Disorders
Chennai, June 15, 2026: In a major advancement for pediatric healthcare, Rainbow Children’s Hospital, Chennai, has launched ACENT (Advanced Centre for Pediatric ENT Care), the city’s first dedicated centre focused exclusively on the diagnosis, treatment and long-term management of hearing, airway and sleep disorders in newborns, infants, children and adolescents.

A key highlight of the centre is its introduction of ultra-thin 1.2 mm pediatric endoscopes, making ACENT the first facility in Chennai to offer sedation-free airway assessment for newborns and young children. The technology allows specialists to safely examine tiny airways in an outpatient setting, enabling earlier diagnosis and timely intervention for complex airway conditions.

The centre recently demonstrated its capabilities through the successful treatment of a one-week-old infant suffering from severe airway obstruction, feeding difficulties and dependence on oxygen support. Following a specialized airway procedure, the infant experienced significant improvement in breathing and feeding and was discharged within days, underscoring the importance of specialized pediatric airway care during the earliest stages of life.
