As AI Reshapes Careers, World Peace University Goa Champions Transdisciplinary Education for the Future of Work
Chennai, June 20, 2026: Preparing Students for Careers That Don’t Yet Exist! As artificial intelligence and rapid technological advancements continue to transform industries worldwide, higher education must evolve beyond preparing students for their first job and instead equip them for a lifetime of learning, adaptation, and career transitions.
Speaking at the World Peace University Goa Open House held on June 20, university leaders emphasized the urgent need for a transdisciplinary approach to education—one that combines deep subject expertise with the ability to think across disciplines, solve complex problems, and adapt to an ever-changing professional landscape.

Addressing prospective students, parents, and educators, WPU Goa Vice Chancellor Prof. Walter Leal highlighted that the university is being built around a transdisciplinary framework that encourages students and faculty to engage beyond traditional academic boundaries. Through immersive learning, industry integration, global exposure, and active learning experiences, WPU Goa aims to nurture graduates who are prepared for lifelong learning, leadership, and meaningful careers across both private and public sectors.
Echoing this vision, Dr. Ashish Bharadwaj, Pro Vice Chancellor of WPU Goa, noted that universities can no longer assume that preparing students for their first job is sufficient. Instead, institutions must prepare learners for the multiple transitions, opportunities, and challenges they will encounter throughout their lives. He stressed that the future belongs to individuals who can continuously learn, connect ideas across domains, and respond effectively to challenges that do not fit neatly within traditional disciplines.
The discussion explored how long-standing assumptions about higher education are being challenged as technological innovation accelerates. New professions are emerging, existing roles are evolving, and success increasingly depends on the ability to integrate knowledge from multiple fields rather than operate within a single area of expertise.
Participants also discussed the growing importance of curiosity, resilience, adaptability, and lifelong learning as essential skills for navigating future careers. Speakers emphasized that universities must focus not only on current industry demands but also on preparing students for opportunities and professions that have yet to be imagined.
WPU Goa currently offers programmes including B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Bachelor of Management Studies (Hons.), B.Des. in Integrated Product Design, B.Des. in Communication Design, and B.Sc. (Hons.) in Psychology.
At a time when students and parents are seeking clarity about the future of work, the event reinforced a powerful message: employability alone is no longer enough. The true goal of higher education must be to prepare learners to thrive amid continuous change and to build meaningful careers in a rapidly evolving world.
