Speaking at the launch, Dr. V. Mohan, Chairman, said healthcare is rapidly shifting from a generalized approach to precision-based care. He noted that advances in genomic science now enable clinicians to understand an individual’s susceptibility to conditions such as Type 2 diabetes, obesity, and cardiovascular disease, allowing interventions to be tailored with greater accuracy and improving long-term health outcomes.

Highlighting the growing burden of diabetes and obesity in India, Dr. Mohan said initiatives like Genomic Lifestyle Counselling represent an important step toward predictive, preventive, and personalized healthcare.

Dr. R. M. Anjana, Managing Director, explained that the GLC program combines genomic risk assessment with structured lifestyle modification plans, including personalized diet strategies, physical activity guidance, and behavioural counselling. This integrated approach helps identify risks early and equips individuals with evidence-based strategies aligned with their genetic predispositions.

Dr. Geeta Dharmatti, Nutrigenomic Counsellor, added that the program applies nutrigenomics to design customized nutrition plans based on gene–nutrient interactions, ensuring dietary recommendations are aligned with each person’s metabolic profile while providing ongoing counselling support to improve adherence and measurable health outcomes.
