The newly launched 19-bed Emergency Department (ED) includes 18 acute care beds and one dedicated isolation bed, designed to support infection control and the safe management of contagious emergencies. Built for high-volume, time-critical care, the ED enables swift triage and treatment aligned with current clinical guidelines.

The department is equipped with on-site diagnostics, including portable bedside X-ray and Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS), allowing real-time assessments and faster clinical decision-making without patient movement.

Highlighting the importance of trauma-ready emergency care, Thiru. Samay Singh Meena noted that despite a reduction in road fatalities, Tamil Nadu continues to record a high number of accidents, underscoring the need for strengthened ‘golden hour’ response systems.

Hospital leadership emphasized that the Emergency Wing is designed around patient-first workflows, with rapid bedside decision-making, real-time monitoring, and evidence-based protocols aimed at achieving a door-to-decision time under 30 minutes.

With this launch, Gleneagles Hospital Chennai continues to advance its emergency care infrastructure, integrating medical expertise, technology, and patient-centric design to deliver timely and reliable critical care when every minute matters.
