Chennai Vazh Nellai Makkal Nala Sangam (Chennai-Based Nellai People’s Welfare Association) office bearers recently had the honor of meeting legendary music composer Ilaiyaraaja at his office. The visit was to congratulate him on the historic world premiere of his first-ever Western classical symphony, Valiant, which was presented in a grand performance at London’s Eventim Apollo Theatre at midnight on March 9. The symphony, a testament to Ilaiyaraaja’s genius, was performed by the world-renowned Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, marking a remarkable new chapter in his already illustrious career.

The delegation, led by Association President Simon Jayakumar, General Secretary Shankar Mani, and Senior Office Bearers Dr. Rathinavel Rajan and Panchi Subramanian, along with other members, took this opportunity to express their deep admiration and appreciation for Ilaiyaraaja’s contributions to music and his recent global achievement.

As a token of their respect and gratitude, the association presented Ilaiyaraaja with a customized portrait, beautifully designed with an elegant backdrop featuring iconic landmarks from the combined Tirunelveli district. This symbolic artwork celebrated both his artistic brilliance and his special connection to the people of Tamil Nadu.

During their meeting, the members also conveyed their heartfelt thanks to Ilaiyaraaja for his recent successful concert in Tirunelveli, which was a moment of immense pride for the people of the district. The concert not only rekindled nostalgia among music lovers but also reinforced the legendary composer’s deep-rooted bond with his Tamil audience.

The Chennai-Based Nellai People’s Welfare Association, dedicated to fostering community welfare and cultural appreciation, expressed their immense pride in Ilaiyaraaja’s achievements and wished him continued success in his musical journey.
