Chennai, 8th January 2025: Strengthening its pursuit of bringing world-class patient care and advanced surgical services to the city, Prashanth Hospitals today marked a momentous milestone by transforming its operative theater at Velachery into a 100% technology enabled surgical care with the addition of SSi Mantra 3 Robot, the indigenously developed robotic system for minimally invasive surgery. Launched in the city for the first time, SSi Mantra 3 is the most advanced robotic system that comprises telesurgery and teleproctoring capabilities, marking a significant leap in accessibility of timely, efficient and affordable surgery for patients.

The hospital also announced the launch of its Institute of Robotic Surgery to deliver precision-driven surgical care for a variety of complex procedures, and has its applications in various branches like Urology, Gynecology, Gastroenterology, General surgery and Cardiothoracic surgery at an event in the presence of Dr. Prashanth Krishna, Managing Director - Prashanth Hospitals and Mr. Rohit Gupta, Vice President - South Asia Business Development, Mantra Surgical Robotic System.

The SSi Mantra 3 robotic system has been designed and developed to enhance surgical precision, efficiency and patient outcomes. The robot has been equipped with four modular robotic arms, an open design surgical console with a 3D 4k monitor, state-of-the-art imaging and illumination equipment and a wide range of robotic instruments providing surgeons with enhanced capabilities to perform precise and safe surgery. The system's design emphasizes patient safety through a head tracking monitor which pauses controls if it senses the surgeons to have moved, a VR based training module with a VR headset for procedural training to decrease errors during surgery and increase familiarity of equipment prior to surgery. The robot also has Tremor filtration and motion scaling to make the movements of the surgeon more precise and under control.
