GSH Group hosts its 4th edition of Sustainable Energy Forum; Signs Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Anna University
- On the theme of Decarbonization with ESG enabled Facilities Management
Chennai, 8th November ‘23: GSH Group, a world leader in ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) enabled facilities management, hosted its 4th edition of Sustainable Energy Forum on the theme of Decarbonization with ESG Enabled Facilities Management. This event brought together industry experts, thought leaders, and stakeholders to discuss sustainable energy use, conservation, and environmental responsibility.
The Chief Guest was Dr. R. Velraj, Vice Chancellor, Anna University. The objective of this forum revolved around the growing urgency to adopt sustainable energy practices, recognizing the fast depletion of energy resources worldwide, and promoting innovative solutions to address the global energy challenge.
In his address, Dr. R. Velraj, Vice Chancellor, Anna University said, “The world is encouraging the use of sustainable energies that produces minimal disturbance to the atmosphere. A big part of it is energy efficiency. Energy audits are necessary because in energy intensive operations, the potential of saving energy is very high.”
“If the share of renewable energy is to reach 80% of our energy supply, we need economically viable storge technologies. We should not depend only on one mode of storage technology, we need to invest in hybrid forms of storage. In the near future, we are looking at hybrid sources of energy that are going to be stored in hybrid systems based on the specific requirement of the energy application,” he added.
Highlighting the significance of the event, a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) was signed between GSH India and Anna University. GSH will provide training and on-site experience to the students of Anna University. The University will provide the business opportunities with potential Government, Private and Public Private Projects (PPP). GSH would provide internship, on-the-job training and conduct industry focused seminars and workshops.
In recognition of GSH Group's outstanding contributions to decarbonization and sustainability, a ‘Carbon Neutral 2022 Certificate’ was presented to the GSH Group by the Director, ABI Energy.
“GSH Group has announced the carbon neutral programme world-wide with GSH managed sites making efficient use of energy resources and energy efficient technologies, which is relevant to decarbonisation. Considering India’s commitments under the United Nations Framework Climate Change Convention, and the recent announcement of targeting net zero carbon by 2070, we are ready to help Tamil Nadu create its long-term strategy to reduce its emissions,” said Mr. Mark Thomas, Group CEO, GSH.
The Guests of Honour were Mr. P. Ponnaiah, I.A.S., Director - Rural Development & Panchayat Raj, Govt of Tamil Nadu, Mr. K. Allaudin, I.A.S. (Retd), Member - Police Commission, Govt. of Tamil Nadu, Mr. A.N. Dinesh Kumar, Joint Director - Energy Management Centre, Govt. of Kerala and Dr. B.S. Anand, Executive Director, SRM Group of Companies.
Among the topics that experts from various organizations spoke on were:

A lively question and answer session allowed participants to engage directly with experts, gaining insights and clarifications on topics related to decarbonization, sustainability, and responsible energy management.
The event featured stalls showcasing the latest innovations in the ESG sector, offering attendees a glimpse into cutting-edge technologies and practices that drive sustainability in facility management.
