Republic of Uganda New Consulate inaugurated at Chennai; Vinod Kumar Saraogi appointed as Honorary Consul

Chennai, December 08, 2022: Republic of Uganda New Consulate was today inaugurated at Chennai by Her Excellency Prof.Joyce Kakuramatsi Kikafunda, High Commissioner of Uganda to India.  Vinod Kumar Saraogi was appointed as Honorary Consul of Republic of Uganda for Tamilnadu, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh.

In the evening, a felicitation was organised at Hotel Hilton Guindy.  Lt.Gen A.Arun, YSM, SM, VSM, GOC, Sakshi Bharat was the Chief Guest and Dr.Sharad Kumar was the Guest of Honour. Consul General of other Consulates and Business delegates attended the event.

Chennai, March 31, 2026: Tamil Nadu IT Hostel Owners Welfare Association raised a serious concerns on whether cooking gas is being hoarded or sold in the black market during a press meet led by its State President A. Seetharaman along with other office bearers.  During the press meet, Seetharaman outlined what actions the Central and State Governments should take. He also said that more than 20,000 men’s, women’s, and student hostels operating across Tamil Nadu are facing severe difficulties due to an acute shortage of cooking gas. The livelihoods of over 2 lakh employees working in these hostels have been directly affected.
