World Heart Day is celebrated every year on 29th of September since the year 2000, which was founded by World Heart Federation. It is a global campaign through which the federation unites people in the fight against the cardiovascular disease burden as well as inspires and drives international action to encourage heart-healthy living. Cardiovascular diseases including heart disease and stroke are the world’s leading cause of death claiming 18.6 million lives every year. By commemorating World Heart Day, it is being highlighted to the people at large about the actions that individuals can take to prevent and control cardiovascular diseases mainly by controlling the risk factors such as tobacco use, unhealthy diet and physical inactivity so that at least 80% of the premature deaths from heart disease and stroke could be avoided.
