Rotary Club of Madras hands over Air conditioned mobile Unit to the Chennai Corporation


Chennai, June 29, 2021: The Rotary Club of Madras today  handed over an exclusive MOBILE HEALTH UNIT, which will be used for vaccinating people at a time and at any location that the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC), chooses. The unit was handed over by President Kapil Chitale, to Mr. Gagandeep Singh Bedi IAS, Commissioner of the GREATER CHENNAI CORPORATION,in the presence of Rotarians and Officials from GCC including  Mr. Vishu Mahajan IAS, Joint Commissioner.

The first stop of this unit was at Kannagi Nagar, where the first batch of 150 doses of vaccinations were given. This self propelled mobile unit has cost RCM  Rs 50 lakhs. Yesterday, Rtn Kapil and team met the Hon.CM of Tamilnadu Thiru M.K. Stalin and explained about the salient features of this special unit. Thiru Stalin appreciated the efforts made by Rotary Club of Madras to  speed up the vaccination process.


According to Pres .Kapil Chitale, This self-contained mobile unit is replete with cold storage equipment to store vaccines, an examination cum resting bed for patients who develop any adverse reactions, a bio toilet, a reception area and three comfortable chairs for people to be vaccinated, 3 at a time. It is fully Air conditioned with a captive power unit. On the outside, there is an extendable Awning, to provide shade for the people lined up for vaccination. In all, RCM has spent Rs.2.30 crores on Covid related activities this year alone.
