Export Awareness Program 2020- "Current Scenario & Way Forward for Indian Plastic Industry"

Chennai, March 13, 2020: Directorate General of Foreign Trade in Association with The Plastic Export Promotion Council conducted the Export Awareness Program 2020- "Current Scenario & Way Forward for Indian Plastic Industry".

  • Welcome address by: Y.V.Raman, Regional Chairman- Plexconil, South. He informed about the services being provided by the Council to its members and the large untapped potential for exports in this industry.  He welcomed the Polymer Park being inaugurated by the Govt of Tamil Nadu.
  • Theme address by: S. Rakkappan, President, Tamilnadu Plastics Manufacturers Association (TAPMA). Also informed about the services of his association and the latest 100 acre cluster park which a private entity being operated by TAPMA.
  • Special address on MSME Clusters by: Suresh Babuji, Director- MSME DI. Also spoke on the various schemes under the MEME for the exporter and urged the members to avail to expand their export business. 
  • Keynote address on Trade Facilitation for Industry by: Sudha Koka, Commissioner of Customs, Chennai Customs-Sea (Exports). She explained about the “ease of exports” and the schemes available for the exporters making it easy for exports. She said “I am glad to see more exporters and the potential exporters participating in this “export awareness meet” which shows the potential of Plastics exports from Tamil Nadu”.
  • Special Address on Export Incentives by: D.K.Sekar, I.A & A.S, Zonal Additional DGFT, DGFT, Chennai. He said that his office was open for any interaction with the exporters any time and that most of the grievances has been resolved and that no “open house” meeting are being conducted because of this in the recent times. 
  • Inaugural address by Chief Guest: Dr.M.K.Shanmuga Sundaram, IAS, Development Commissioner, MEPZ. While inaugurating the Program, he talked on the huge potential for the growth of Plastics Exports  especially from Tamil Nadu with huge manufacturing set up in the State to contribute to the exports from India
  • Vote of thanks by: Ruban Hobday, Regional Director- Plexconil, South. He emphasised the great potential the industry had for exports from Tamil Nadu
