PARALLEL MUSIC FEST 2019 - Nippon Paint - Rotary Commemorate Fifteen Years of Awarding Differently Abled Musical Talent
- Nippon Paint – Rotary, Parallel Music Fest co-powered by Coromandel Super Power is an inclusive annual event providing a platform for the differently abled artistes to show case their classical music talents along with main stream artistes on 3rd December each year coinciding with the “International day of Persons with Disabilities”.
- This year the “Promising Carnatic Musician” was conferred on Vidwan Shri. Namgiripettai S.Gokulakrishnan Visually challenged Carnatic Vocalist & grandson of Nadaswaram Maestro Vidwan Late Shri. Namgiripettai Krishnan .
- The “Distinguished Carnatic Musician” award was conferred on multi-faceted Vidwan Shri T.K.Padmanbhan , Violinist cum Composer who is well known in both Classical Music and Dance Circles not only in Chennai but across the globe him having accompanied four generations of musicians and five generations of dancers across the globe.
- Life Time Achievement Award was conferred on accomplished Veena Vidushi Smt.Hemalatha Mani, who has added two jewels to her crown in training her two daughters Chaurulatha and Mathumitha to become music celebrities in their own right and disciple of renowned Veena Vidwan Late Shri Chittibabu.

Power today conducted the 15th
edition of their annual Signature Event the Nippon Paint – Rotary, Parallel
Music Fest.
Nippon Paint -Rotary, Parallel Music Fest is a much looked forward to event by connoisseurs
of classical music, because it provides a platform for the differently abled
artistes, to showcase their Musical talent along with main stream artistes.
Encouraged by the positive response over recent years, the number of aspiring
artists participating in the fest has increased with every edition. The 15th edition of Nippon Paint – Rotary Parallel Music Fest co-powered
by Coromandel Super Power was held at the Kasturi srinivasan Hall of the Music Academy Chennai today the 3rd
of December 2019. The coveted Life Time Achievement Award of Nippon Paint – Rotary
Parallel Music Fest’s was conferered on accomplished Veena Vidushi
Smt.Hemalatha Mani, disciple of Veena Maestro late Shri Chittibabu. “Distinguished Carnatic Musician” title was conferred on Vidwan Shri T.K.Padmanabhan, the Violinist cum composer and The “Promising
Differently Abled Artiste” award was conferred on Vidwan Namagiripettai S.
Krishnan , the Carnatic Vocalist.

delight of the visually challenged students of Karna Vidya a flagship project
of the club. Vidushi Hemalatha Mani and Vidwan Namagiripettai Gokulakrishnan

highlighted that Rotary Club of Madras Coromandel, has been working for the
cause of the visually challenged through The Karna Vidya Foundation. The
program is run by the visually impaired for the visually impaired. With reading centers, a digital library and
a technology center at one of the prominent IT Parks in Chennai, Karna Vidya Foundation has been working for the
past two decades empowering visually
impaired through education and employment.
During this period, RCMC has reached out to thousands of visually
challenged bring about a positive change to their lives and career.

“Karna Vidya provides
learning assistance to visually challenged college students and shapes them up
to take on their lives with dignity.
Project Karna Vidya Technology Centre provides computer and soft skills
to the visually challenged, to empower them with employable skills. Drishti the first Rotaract club in the world
comprising of visually challenged youngsters, is ably supported by its parent
club, Rotary club of Madras Coromandel, providing invaluable assistance to the
visually challenged community. The Nippon Paint –Rotary Parallel Music Fest co-powered
by Coromandel super power helps the visually challenged to draw inspiration
from renowned differently abled musicians to realize their own dreams taking
their disabilities as a challenge.
