Odisha Govt pitches new its new tourism opportunities in Chennai
- While ushering in the New Year with the month long Marine Drive Eco Retreat, Odisha is set to give a big stimulus to Tourism development in 2020.
Chennai, November 2019: Odisha Tourism, having
aggressively promoted itself as India's best kept secret, has resumed its
domestic outreach with Chennai. Leading the delegation in association with FICCI, Tourism Minister Shri.Jyoti Prakash Panigrahi
informed that the Department is in the process of investing INR 500 crore on
Tourism product and infrastructure development in the coming months.

"While we are steadily progressing on
developing niche tourism such as water sports from scratch, we are slated for a
big boost in beach tourism in the coming year. While the master plan for the
1300 acre Shamuka Beach Project is scheduled to be finalised early next year,
we are simultaneously initiating trunk infrastructure development at the
site."

Vishal Dev added in
continuation that the maiden Marine Drive Eco Retreat will be held over a month
starting 14 December on the pristine Ramchandi Beach at Konark. An initiative
of the Department, the Retreat is envisioned as a glamping (glamorous camping)
event with 50 luxury cottages complemented by a vibrant arts& music
festival, a food festival and a flea market.
"Bookings are in full flow through its
website ecoretreat.odishatourism.gov.in. We anticipate a tremendous
response from Tamil Nadu, which contributes amongst the largest outbound
tourists nationally", said Shri. Dev.
The State Government is also encouraging exciting
experiences like houseboat tourism and caravan tourism to give the tourists
everlasting memories. Odisha, which witnessed 1.5 crore tourist footfalls in
2018, hopes to see the numbers rise to over 2.5 crores in 2021. The state
boasts some exciting tourist circuits including diverse wildlife tours across
18 protected areas and two national parks, an enigmatic Buddhist circuit, apart
from the spiritually exhilarating Golden Triangle Heritage Circuit of
Bhubaneswar – Puri – Konark. For more information, Write
