Velammal Student Praggnanandhaa dedicates his World Chess Title to Sujith Wilson


  • A “Dare to Win Challenge” was  organized wherein the best players contested with the  World Champion.

Chennai, October 30, 2019: Velammal's R Praggnanandha, a 14-year-old Grandmaster who recently became the World Youth Chess champion, was felicitated at Main School in Mogappair on 30th October, 2019 Wednesday.

Praggnanandhaa dedicated his recent triumph to the late Sujith Wilson, the 2-year-old boy who tragically lost his life after getting stuck in an abandoned bore well. Two-minute silence was observed and candles were lit as students and faculty members offered their condolences to Sujith's family.

A giant Human Chess Board comprising  the  face masks of Praggnaanandhaa and  Sujith Wilson was also on display. A cake cutting ceremony was organized for the chess wizard.

The Interact  session on ‘Praggnanandhaa’s  journey to success inspired the students.  The interact session shed light on the little master’s epic journey to success. The Management lauded him for his brilliant success and wished him on his future endeavours.
